West Plains

A couple of weekends ago, we headed to West Plains, Missouri for Grayson to meet Papaw and Marianna!  It worked out so that I drove there from KC with my mom and we spent the week there.  Jason came and met us on Thursday along with Brett, Courtney, and Patrick.  We had such a great week, and it was so fun for Grayson to spend time with his great grandparents!  We had a lot of relaxation time, and Grayson slept from 10 to about 7:30 the next morning while we were there.  That was a new record for him, I was pretty impressed.  Country air does wonders on a baby :)  While we were there, mom and I stayed at the cabin for a few days.  I got to ride Dude (Papaw's horse) for a little bit.  I love riding horses-would love to take him out of the little field next time I'm there and really ride!  I am hoping that we will make it back really soon.  It was really fun to spend some real time with Patrick too!  He is the funniest little kid.

March Madness was going on while there.  Most notable game: MU losing!  Not gonna lie, one of the highlights of the tournament.  Especially since they already made road to the final four tshirts.  Really funny.  On an even better note:  KU IS IN THE FINAL FOUR!!  We beat North Carolina on Sunday, and I could not be more excited.  Grayson and I are heading up to KC tomorrow for the finals!  Yes, I know they are in New Orleans.  BUT, second best place to watch the games is Lawrence KS!  No, Grayson is not invited to watch them with me in Lawrence.  He will be staying with the Grandma's while I enjoy a day off!  This will be my first night away however, so we will see how that goes :)

Two Months Old!

Grayson is getting to be such a big boy!  Literally :)  He's grown so much in the last month it's crazy!  Little man had his 2 month well check today.  Everything went great-doctor said he's as healthy as can be!  He had two shots today, and it absolutely breaks my heart.  His little face just crumples, then the silent cry, then a bloodcurling scream.  This time the scream didn't stop for awhile.  I finally got him to take his bottle, and he calmed down.  Poor thing.  He's been sleeping every since...traumatic experience!!  Here are his 2 month stats:

Weight: 11 pounds 10 oz.  (49th percentile)
Height: 24 inches (85th percentile)
Head circumference: 40 cm (50th percentile)
Wearing 0-3 month sleepers, Newborn and 0-3 month clothing
Graduated out of the Newborn diapers and onto size 1!

I would like to note that he grew THREE INCHES in the last month.  WHAT?!  No wonder all of his newborn sleepers are too short!  Dr. Rogers said he's tall and skinny....somewhat like his daddy :)  He's definitely getting a little tummy on him though!  (Grayson that is...not daddy haha).

He has been getting so fun lately!  He smiles a lot, and will really react and smile back at you when he thinks you're being funny.  He's at his best in the mornings, so that's when you'll get the best smiles.  He decided it was party time at 6:00 this morning...smiling away!  Hard to not want to get up and play with him when he's doing that!

He's growing his hair back in that fell out after he was born.  The top of his head is all peach fuzz now, and it looks like it's coming in a light brown color.  The back of his head still has his "old man ring" around the bottom.

He's discovering his hands, and knows how to swing them around to hit your hand out of the way if you're doing something he doesn't like (ex: cleaning his eye goober out, suctioning out his nose, etc).

He coos and talks all the time.  He also is letting out these yells instead of crying.  He still cries, but these happen more when he just wants to get your attention.  It's pretty cute.

Alright, that's his 2 month update!

The dogs like hanging near Grayson :)

Yes Bailey's head is on my head.  She stayed like that for awhile

KC Trip

On February 15, we headed back to KC for Patricks first birthday party and to visit family and friends for a long weekend.  Jason was supposed to fly back with me and Grayson, but last minute had to stay in TX a few extra days for work.  That meant I was flying solo with a 6 week old!  Luckily, he was an awesome flyer :)  We had an early morning flight, so we got to the airport early.  I was armed with plenty of bottles made up and pacifiers!  He was fussy til I got him to the gate to feed him....and he proceeded to spit up the largest amount EVER.  Awesome.  I'm sure everyone around me was thrilled I was on their flight.  Anyway, we got on the plane and he checked out his surroundings for awhile, then fell asleep!  Perfect baby :)

We had an awesome time in KC!  It was so fun for everyone to meet Grayson.  We had some issues sleeping the first couple of nights (must have been missing his daddy).  He has been sleeping in a little bassinet/sling deal that we borrowed from my cousin at home...and when we got to KC, the pack and play was NOT going to cut it.  He freaked out til about 3am when I finally let him sleep on my chest.  Ugh.  I went out the next day and bought the same one we have at home haha.  We're trying to transition him into a crib, but it's not working too well right now.  He wakes up within about 10 minutes realizing he's in a huge space and starts crying.  So we are practicing sleeping in his crib during naptimes during the day.  Any moms out there with suggestions, I'd be happy to hear them!

We also had a visit this past weekend from cousin Ryane!  It was so cute to have the babies together, and get pictures of them when they are little.  They are only 4 days apart!  Grayson is a lot bigger than Ryane though haha.

Grayson has his 2 month checkup on Monday, so I will update his stats and stuff then!

One Month

How this little guy is already one month old is beyond me!  He is changing and growing so much each day it's amazing.  He's finally gaining weight (yeah!).  We were going back to the doctor each week there for the first month...no fun!  At first it was because of the jaundice, then it was because he hadn't gotten back up to his birth weight.  But he is now, so good work buddy!  Here are his one month stats:

Weight: 8 lbs 8 oz.
Height: 21"
Head circumference: Don't remember what they said :)

He's 25th percentile in all three categories.  He is starting to outgrow some of his little teeny newborn clothes...they look like muscle t's now.  His 0-3 month clothing is still wayyy too big.  I've been looking for some little outfits out that will fit him, and they are all huge.  Basically the only things that fit are his little footed jammies.  That's okay, he'll be in big boy clothes before I know it!

We gave him his first bath the other night (well, real bath...he's been having washcloth baths until now).  He LOVED it!  He seemed so relaxed and happy in his little tub.  So cute.  He loves music.  When I put on a playlist on the computer or from my ipod, it usually quiets him down.  He seems to like rap quite a bit too.  Was crying HARD in the car the other day, and a Lil Wayne song came on and he quieted down.  Little gangsta baby!

He's still only sleeping about 2-3 hours at a time at night.  Not my favorite thing.  Mommy is sleepy!!  He seems to be going through a growth spurt right now because he's STARVING all the time.  He'll nurse for 30 min, then take 3 or 4 oz of bottle.  Crazy.  He's gonna be like 15 pounds at his 2 month well check haha.  During the daytime he hardly sleeps at all.  Someone needs to remind him he's a newborn.  He gets bored easily, and is not a fan of tummy time.

Here are some pic updates!

We head to KC next week, so I'm pretty excited for everyone to meet him!  His Aunt Carrie is coming to visit this weekend, so he's been pretty pumped about that as well :)  Alright, blogging time is over, crying baby!!

Sweet Baby

Grayson,

I can't believe you are already 3 weeks old!!  I always hear moms say that babies grow up way too fast...but this is ridiculous!  Your daddy and I cannot imagine life without you now, and you are changing and growing everyday.  Today you smiled up at me and I melted.  Today was our first day by ourselves (grandma's have been helping take care of you until today).  We stayed in bed, and I let you sleep on me for 2 whole hours!  You are a happy baby, but you want what you want when you want it!  I would expect nothing less :)  I want each moment to last twice as long as I'm trying to soak in all of your newborn moments!  I'll be forever known as "Mom" now...which weirds me out and excites me at the same time.

So many things about motherhood have caught me by surprise: how hard it is, how incredibly amazing it is, how many diapers one 6 lb baby can go though, how defined your personality is already.  You lay on your daddy's chest every night before we go to bed, and it's about the sweetest thing I've ever seen.  You are his little mini me and it's adorable.

It still surprises me I was able to make such a perfect little being, and I am overwhelmed sometimes when I look at you!  I go through feeling gratitude for your existence, amazement at your tiny features, and even a strange and fleeting fear that you'll somehow be taken from me.  I am always exhausted and frequently intimidated by the job of raising you.  And yet-my love for you astounds me!

I could kiss this little face all day

You're swinging in your swing, and waking up as I type.  We'll cuddle for a few minutes before that little wrinkle between your eyes comes out and you're READY TO EAT!  Love you sweet baby boy!!
